Thomas finds his greatest expression in creating artwork laden with character and narrative. He is interested in the ‘story’ of images.
Thomas received his BFA in Illustration from Art Center College of Design where he was also feted with Ninth Term Honors. He studied under Burne Hogarth, Harry Carmean, Bill Maughan, Matt Mahurin, Richard Bunkall and Philip Hays.
He then began a career as an illustrator, character designer, production artist/animator, art director and production designer. He has contributed his talents to likes of: DreamWorks Animation SKG, Sega of America, Accolade, Vis-à-vis, Fred Stuhr Animation, PBS, MediaAnatomica, Autodesk, Pacific Art League, Cogswell College, Iain Mccaig studio, Mike Huber animation “The Offering”, PX Films and to other fine companies and creatives.
In 1999 he accepted a post as Professor of Art and Animation at Cogswell College, where he has also been involved in curriculum design and development. He started the sculpture program, which continues to receive great reviews.
Thomas spends his days (and nights) doing character design, illustration and production design as well as teaching. He also intermittently displays at galleries.
